Local charity organisation Hampshire Search & Rescue (HANTSAR) have finally been able to replace their retired 4x4 vehicle with a new fully equipped Land Rover thanks to the generous donations of unwanted clothing and shoes to textile banks located at sites around Hampshire...

HANTSAR provides professionally trained volunteers to assist the police in searching for missing and vulnerable children and adults throughout Hampshire, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They do not receive any external funding and have been relying on fundraising efforts by the team and donations from the public to raise the money needed to buy their replacement vehicle. The partnership with BIU started in August 2016 and raised close to £40k within the first 12months resulting in HANTSAR being able to purchase their much-needed vehicle ahead of schedule.

“Our partnership with BIU has given us the financial ability to purchase another Land Rover well ahead of the anticipated date. Through the clothing donations into the textile collection banks by members of the public we again have the additional off-road capability, so important in the work we do. The support given to us by BIU was, and continues to be, invaluable and the ultimate beneficiary is the community as a whole. Thank you BIU!” Trevor Vidler, Public Profile Officer, Hampshire Search & Rescue

“We are delighted and proud to have helped Hampshire Search & Rescue purchase their new Land Rover and thank the generosity of the people of Hampshire who have donated their unwanted items into the textile banks available across the county. We are looking forward to helping HANTSAR fund their potentially life-saving work for many years to come. We are always on the look-out for additional sites for banks to be placed at so if you feel you can help, please contact us.” Carrie Smith, Contract Manager, BIU Group.
