Caring for children with a short life expectancy
Francis House Children’s Hospice provides care for children, teenagers and young adults with a short life expectancy and the necessary support and short-term rest for their families. From its site in Didsbury, the hospice serves a much wider geographical area than Adult Facilities, supporting families from all over the North West. Over 450 families, from all walks of life, are currently supported by the hospice.
Francis House is a haven where young people can forget the problems associated with their condition and enjoy a place of rest, fun and enjoyment in a comfortable home from home environment. Families are given a break from their role as carers, and the children and young people are given experiences to enrich their short lives. Annual running costs are £4.2 million - equivalent to £11,507 per day - and all services are given completely free of charge. By far the largest part of funding comes through charitable donations.
Don't just take our word for it
Our relationship with BIU is now into its seventh year and we recently passed the milestone of £100k income. We love working with Wendy, Carrie and Martin and all the team at BIU, and we hope to continue our partnership for many years to come.

We were looking for additional ways to raise funds, and when we were introduced to BIU Group three years ago, it was a no brainer. The team are knowledgeable and professional, and through textile recycling, we have been able to raise some much needed funds. Also, with Bag It Up’s smart and secure banks, which are well maintained, we have been able to increase awareness of Francis House across the Greater Manchester region.
