Essex Search and Rescue
“Specialist search teams are looking for a missing person…”
How often do you hear that phrase on the local news? If you think search & rescue is confined to the sea or mountainous areas, then you are mistaken. Every year thousands of people are reported missing in Essex, as they are in all counties throughout the UK. In the majority of cases they turn up safe and well - but sometimes they don’t. If the missing person is one of your loved ones, you will expect well-equipped, well-trained search and rescue professionals to bring them home safely to you.
That’s when Essex Search & Rescue go into action. They are a team of trained volunteers ready to respond at any time, day or night, to calls from the Police to assist in the search for vulnerable missing persons. This can be on foot, on mountain bikes, or with search & rescue dogs, and on average is called out once every 5 days. In each case a fast response is vital. The organisation is a registered charity receiving no external funding, and is reliant on public donations to fund its operations.
Don't just take our word for it
One of our newest Charity Partners, Essex Search and Rescue provide an essential service assisting the police searching for vulnerable missing people such as young people or those with dementia. The partnership with BIU will provide funds to assist in the charities aspirations. We look forward to seeing the scheme grow from strength to strength.
