BY RECYCLING YOUR UNWANTED CLOTHING, SHOES AND TEXTILES WITH HITS RADIO MANCHESTER CASH FOR KIDS, YOU ARE HELPING TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF DISADVANTAGED AND DISABLED CHILDREN IN GREATER MANCHESTER
Hits Radio Manchester Cash for Kids is a local grant funding charity that fundraises all year round to help disadvantaged and disabled children across Greater Manchester. We stand up proud in our local community, championing the children and projects who need an extra helping hand. All money that is raised locally, stays local supporting children with mental, physical or sensory disabilities, with behavioural or psychological disorders, living in poverty or situations of deprivation, suffering through distress, abuse or neglect.
In 2017 we changed the lives of over 74,000 children and, as a team of three, couldn’t have done this without our amazing supporters. Here are just a few examples of some of the wonderful organisations and individuals that we supported…
Freya is just 7 years old and was born with Cerebral Palsy and two holes in her heart. She relies heavily on her wheelchair and was also recently diagnosed with Epilepsy. After three heart operations and SDR surgery, it was recommended that Freya receives three physiotherapy sessions per week to improve her movement. At £81 per session the NHS unfortunately could not provide support, so Cash for Kids have funded 60 sessions.
Poppy is five-years-old and has life threatening Epilepsy, Autism, Global Development Delay and is visually impaired. Poppy sadly suffers from severe seizures on a daily basis and requires medication within 15 minutes when this happens. Cash for Kids have funded an assistance dog for Poppy that will be trained to detect when she is about to have a seizure and immediately alert her parents, so this process can take place as quickly as possible to save her life.
POD Children’s Charity works nationally to help alleviate the trauma of a hospital stay by sowing the seeds of fun, laughter and feeling better. Pod uses magicians, puppeteers, musicians and clowns to create happiness during a child and parents’ worst times. Cash for Kids were able to fund three months of visits in Greater Manchester hospitals, providing invaluable comfort families.
Middletons Popstars Academy has been running for the last 18 years in one of the most deprived areas of the country. The academy gives disadvantaged and disabled young people a safe place to nurture and develop their skills in a very inclusive and supportive environment, promoting self-worth and building life-long friendships. Cash for Kids were able to fund 48 workshops, allowing the children to put on a production of Oliver which was a sell out!
