Van Driver - Reading

Permanent Day and Night Drivers Required

View job description

Salary: £21,525

Location: Reading

Reliable night van drivers are required to join BIU Group, one of the UK’s leading textile recyclers, maintaining the excellent service standards achieved over the past decade.

Not just a driving job where you are sat in your van; during each shift, you will be in and out at multiple recycling sites (household waste recycling sites, supermarket car parks etc.) across different counties to load your vehicle with bags of textiles, weighing off at the weighbridge and unloading at the depot - in all weathers. Please note that this is a very physical role.

You will be working any 5 shifts out of 7, but these will include Saturday and Sunday, collecting from numerous charity banks and containers at household waste recycling sites.

Applicants must be willing to work unsociable hours - early hour starts for the day shifts. In your favour, there is less traffic on the road, ensuring you can finish your shift quicker. Your pay is a fixed salary, not an hourly rate.

You will be using vehicles with tracking, satellite navigation and PDA systems; uniform, PPE and full training is provided.

Punctuality, reliability and resilience is essential to ensure the smooth running of the operations and shift patterns, as is a good level of fitness due to the bending and lifting involved, and for loading/unloading the bags of textiles.

You should also be competent at completing paperwork for your shift and legislative purposes, and inputting collection data into the PDA system.

Although you will be part of our whole friendly team, you will be on the road on your own once you are trained for the role, unless you are allocated shifts with sites where a driver’s mate is required.

If you think you have what it takes to provide an excellent service to our clients, we look forward to receiving your application and CV. Immediate start.
